Michael Hauser

Michael Hauser, who is credited with bringing the art of flamenco to the Midwest, and is considered one of this country's finest flamenco guitarists will be touring the five state area during the upcoming season. He will present a program featuring the music of a number of Spain's greatest guitarists, as well as his own compositions. Accompanying him will be a member of the Zorongo Flamenco Dance Theater who will not only dance, but provide percussion for some of Mr. Hauser's pieces.

Michael Hauser will be telling a number of interesting stories about his worldwide travels as a forester, his first profession, and then as a musician. This will include his experiences in Spain in 1964, and his run in with the Beatles in Madrid, and in later years loosing all of his clothes on his way to perform in Yugoslavia. At the age of 72, Mr. Hauser is still very active and is revered by many as the "Father of Flamenco" in the Midwest. He has chosen this time to look back and reflect on his life as an artist.
